The Pellevé Wrinkle Reduction System uses radiofrequency technology to build up heat where the skin and fat layer meet. It can be used to treat:
It can also temporarily reduce the appearance of stubborn cellulite in the thighs and buttocks.
The Pellevé procedure is similar to a laser treatment. A hand-held radiofrequency “wand” is moved over the face with a firm but not deep pressure, emitting a radio wave. This radio wave is what causes the build-up of the heat below the skin’s surface.
The heat breaks down the collagen fibers, causing them to contract. This tricks them into thinking they are undergoing trauma (which they are) and they begin to stimulate the growth of new, replacement collagen cells. The new collagen cells create firmer, tighter skin, reducing the look of wrinkles.
You may experience some redness immediately after the treatment, but this is simply due to the heat. There is no downtime, and you are free to continue your day as normal once the treatment is complete.
To reduce cellulite, a different type of hand-held device is used, in conjunction with massage. This combination delivers radio waves to the surface of the skin on thighs or buttocks. This, in turn, heats up the fluids in the affected areas, causing them to move so that they can be eliminated through the body’s lymphatic system.
Just as it took time to build up those “cottage cheese” lumps, it takes time to break them down, and a series of bi-weekly treatments is recommended. However, there is no downtime or long recovery – a great benefit.
Pelleve can also be used as a cautery device to remove moles or unsightly growths. Dr. Kaado will perform a thorough examination to address any concerns of this nature. To learn more, contact us today and schedule a free consultation.
