Not all methods of skin resurfacing are invasive. Meet Fractora, a non-invasive, non-surgical method of rejuvenating your skin. This innovative skin resurfacing technique can improve skin tone, texture, and tightness using fractional laser technology.
Fractora uses radiofrequency waves to penetrate the layers of the skin, rejuvenating from the inside out. This state-of-the-art technique can treat both fine and deeper lines, damage from the sun or environment, and other issues that occur as the skin naturally ages, as well as acne scars, redness, and hyperpigmentation. It is excellent for acne scarring, scarring from injuries, wrinkles on the face and neck, perioral lines around the mouth, poor skin tone, and good for skin tightening to treat what is commonly termed “turkey neck.”
Treatment is delivered with the Fractora wand, which is equipped with a series of micro-needles. These very fine needles carefully penetrate the surface of the skin to deliver RF energy below the surface of the skin. These controlled waves stimulate the skin's natural mechanisms to produce greater amounts of collagen and elastin, increasing the skin's volume and natural flexibility, along with a youthful glow.
During treatment, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the surface of the skin to ensure your comfort through the entirety of the procedure. Then, Dr. Kaado will carefully use the wand over the treatment area to produce uniform results over the entire surface of the skin.
Although it seems the two technologies are almost the same, there are distinct differences. Fraxel is a laser with more limited penetration depths. This makes it an ideal laser for pigmentation and “light” resurfacing. Fractora radio frequency penetrates with pins to deliver energy deeper and more widespread beneath the skin surface.
Fractora can be used more aggressively to treat pronounced acne scars, deeper wrinkles and provide improvement in skin laxity. Think Fractional for “average” laser skin resurfacing and Fractora for bigger problems and bigger results.
Fractora has the advantage of radio frequency technology which concentrates most of the heat beneath the pigment layers, thus reducing to a significant degree the risks of having discoloration after treating scars, wrinkles and excess pigment itself, making this treatment safe for all skin types.
Most patients will need around 3 treatments, spaced 1 month apart. Severe acne scarring, and deep wrinkles will likely need more based on severity and patient response.
Patients may experience mild tenderness, bruising, and swelling of the treatment area immediately following treatment. If necessary, Dr. Kaado can prescribe medication to manage any minor discomfort. There is very little downtime associated with Fractora skin rejuvenation, and you are free to resume your normal activities the day following treatment.
Once you have completed your Fractora skin rejuvenation treatment, you will begin to see your skin glow from the inside out. Results from Fractora are progressive, with maximum results visible as the weeks pass, and optimal improvement achieved in the months following your treatment.
